From seed to dish in no time! Fast-growing vegetables that will give a harvest quickly

Growing your own garden, you may expect to reap the results soon. But from planting the seedlings to harvesting your crop, a lot happens.

You must tend to your plants, fertilise them, water them regularly, ensure they have ample sunlight and wait till they grow to bear harvest.

If the wait feels too long, let’s see which fast-growing crops you could plant to enjoy the yield in no time!

Fast-growing vegetables

There are a few plants that you can grow all year round that yield harvest in four weeks to three months.

Fast-growing leafy greens

Not only vegetables, but you can also add a few fast-growing leafy greens to your home garden.

Plant Yield Time (Days)

Salad Leaves 50 – 60

Tending to plants

Having a short yield time doesn’t mean that these plants grow well on their own!

True, some of them, like radish, long beans and spinach, are low-maintenance, but you still have to ensure they are provided with everything they need.

The crop quality depends on fertiliser, water, availability of sunlight, and pest control.

Water your plants regularly, fertilise with homemade compost and use organic methods to safeguard them from pests.

Careful tending will help your plants to yield a bountiful harvest!

Succession planting

Be smart when planting!

Succession planting is when you plant a second set immediately after or before the first set of plants gives harvest.

For example, chilli gives harvest in 75 days. You can plant the second set after 60 days of planting the first, so that when they yield, you can harvest alternatively.

Plant a mix of fast-growing four to five vegetables and leafy greens, care for them, and enjoy harvesting them in a few weeks, straight from your organic home garden to your plate.
