Young Jackfruit Burger

  • 500g Young jackfruit
  • 20g Garlic
  • 50g Onion
  • 2nos Red Chili
  • 2pkt MAGGI Rasa musu
  • 1tsp Chili flakes
  • 1/2tsp Black pepper
  • 1tsp Salt
  • 25ml Virgin Coconut Oil
  • 2 - 3 tbsp Wheat Flour
  • 1tbsp Coconut Vinegar
  • 6 to 4 nos Burger Buns
  • 2tbsp Butter
  • 20g Lettuce
  • 2tbsp Chili Mayonnaise
  • 25g Cheddar Cheese

Step 1

Clean the jackfruit and cut roughly into 2" x 2" cubes; brine the cubes for at least 10 hours

Step 2

Drain and pressure cook for 45min - 1 hour with one packet of Rasa Musu - till jackfruit pieces are very soft

Step 3

Drain excess water and finely-chop the jackfruit

Step 4

Mix the chopped jackfruit with the garlic, onion, red-Chili, turmeric, Rasa Musu, Chili flakes, pepper, flour, vinegar and 25ml of virgin coconut oil; correct seasoning and chill the mixture for approximately 2 hours

Step 5

Divide the mixture into 4 balls and shape each ball into a burger patty

Step 6

Chill the burger patty(s) for at least 6 hours till it gets firm (at this stage you can freeze the patties for upto a month)

Step 7

Heat the rest of the oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and fry the burgers till light brown and crispy

Step 8

Butter the buns and toast

Step 9

Assemble the burger --> Bun, burger sauce, lettuce, onion ring, sliced pickle, polos burger patty, 1tbsp burger sauce, bun

Step 10

Serve with air-fryer onion rings, potato fries or sweet-potato fries
